The Producers Conference, Copenhagen, DenmarkOrganized by Luthman Scandinavia
In partnership with Musikeren Magazine.

The Artlab facility is an artistic education center for music, dance and electronic media. Several classrooms and a large performance room were occupied for the event. The event featured two Danish artists, Halfdan E. and Jon Bruland.

This evening event also included presentations from Propellerhead Software Product Specialist, James Bernard, and Kurt Kurasaki, author of Power Tools for Reason 3.0. Nils Harbo of Musikeren Magazine welcomed the attendees to the Conference, and Karsten Hillersdal of Luthman Scandanavia, briefly explained the program for the evening.

James Bernard was first to speak, and he introduced the producers to "Alternative ways of using Reason Devices." In his Combinator Refill package called the Multiband Toolbox, James uses BV512 Vocoder units to divide the audio frequency spectrum into different ranges and apply effects in a non-tradition manner to create various audio processing effects. James ended his presentation with alternative methods of frequency separation using Mclass Stereo Imager units.

Second to appear was Kurt Kurasaki who presented the audience with concepts of Control Voltages and how Reason has adopted these concepts from analog hardware devices. This presentation explained the basic types of control voltage signals used in synthesizers, then went on to explain other uses of modulation signals in sound design applications and triggering rhythms.

Recycle 2.1 and loop based production was the focus of the presentation from Danish artist, Jon Bruland. Jon demonstrated the process of converting live latin percussion sounds into REX Loops for use in Dr.REX players in Reason 3.0. Jon then furthered the process by arranging these loops in Reason to create the basis of a salsa track. He connected Reason 3.0 into Cubase via ReWire and proceeded to lay down an amazing bass track live for the audience.

Danish Producer Halfden E., demonstrated general production techniques in Reason 3.0 including the use of synthesizers, Matrix Sequencers, and Dr. REX Loop players. After his presentation, Halfden entertained several questions from the audience who were interested in his methods.
